Two policies with the same annual premium can offer very different outcomes after a breakdown or accident. A useful comparison starts with how you ride and what you want to protect, then looks at the price.
Cover for others — and for your own bike
Compulsory third-party liability insurance covers harm you cause to others through the use of your vehicle. It does not, by itself, pay for repairs to your own motorcycle after an accident you cause. To protect your own motorcycle, consider comprehensive insurance or specific optional cover under the policy.
Compare liability cover limits. For your own motorcycle, list the risks you want covered: a fall, collision, theft, natural events or vandalism. Check which risks each quote actually covers, along with exclusions and security requirements.
Look beyond the annual premium
| Item | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Limits | How much will the insurance cover and for which risks? |
| Excess | Is it a percentage, a minimum amount, or a combination? |
| Roadside assistance | Does it apply in the event of a malfunction as well as an accident? Where and within what limit will he provide the towing of the motorcycle? |
| Territory | Does it correspond to the countries you actually go to? |
| Equipment | Are panniers, accessories and riding gear covered, or is additional insurance required? |
| Theft | What security, keys and documents does the insurance company require? |
What your excess means in practice
A model example, not a specific offer: with a damage of CZK 30,000 and a excess of 10%, at least CZK 10,000, the excess is CZK 10,000, not CZK 3,000. Actual performance also depends on the extent of coverage and other conditions. Such a comparison tends to be more useful than a few hundred kroner difference in the annual price.
Choose cover for the way you ride
A scooter for daily commuting has a different need and a touring motorcycle on vacation has a different need. When traveling, check for assistance in the event of a breakdown and transport of the machine, for more expensive accessories, their inclusion in the insurance. A seasonal product does not necessarily mean the same range throughout the year; read its terms and conditions. Do not automatically consider operation on a circuit or during a competition to be covered.
Know exactly when your cover starts
Before departure, confirm the origination of the insurance, the date and time of commencement and fulfillment of the conditions, including payment where required. When changing the insurance company, also verify the proper termination of the old contract; the new offer will not cancel it by itself.
From 1 October 2024, the existence of compulsory insurance in the Czech Republic will be verified electronically. When traveling abroad, check the rules of the destination and transit countries and prepare a document from the insurance company. Sales and registration are handled separately our ownership transfer guide.
What we need to compare quotes
In the short form, just start with the license plate number, type of client, contact and what type of coverage you are interested in. If you don't have a license plate yet, write the available data in the note. We will fill in the additional information needed for the calculation individually. Do not send a copy of your ID for the initial inquiry.
Request an insurance quote you can even without buying a motorcycle at Moto Palace. We will compare the available offers and explain the differences; the specific price and conditions can only be confirmed according to the data and offer of the insurance company.
