Private sale may fetch a higher price. A buyout, on the other hand, can significantly shorten the path from decision to money. It depends on how much time you have and how much uncertainty you want to deal with.
Compare like for like — and use real offers
An advertised price is the seller’s asking price, not a confirmed sale price. Compare the same year, equipment, origin and condition. For nearly new motorcycles, also consider current prices for brand-new models: they can affect what a buyer will actually pay for a used one.
| What to consider | Private sale | Sell directly to a dealer |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Higher yield potential; the outcome depends on the buyer and negotiation. | The specific offer takes into account the condition, additional costs and the merchant's margin. |
| Time involved | Photos, ads, phone calls and tours. | Negotiating terms and taking over with one counterpart. |
| Timing | Selling can be quick, but it can also drag on. | The date is negotiated according to the agreement and the possibility of taking over. |
| Paperwork | You coordinate the ownership transfer and transfer process. | You confirm beforehand what the buyer will arrange. |
Why the sale price isn’t the whole picture
Imagine a purely model situation: you expect a private sale for CZK 220,000 and you receive a buyout offer of CZK 205,000. Compare the difference of CZK 15,000 with a realistic sales discount, preparation costs and the time you spend on it. This is not a Moto Palace price list or an estimate of your machine — just a way to calculate the possibilities.
Which option works for you?
Selling privately may suit you if you have time, can present the motorcycle well and do not mind viewings or negotiations. Consider selling to a dealer if you want a firm agreement, are moving, are buying another motorcycle or simply do not want to organise the whole process. When choosing your next motorcycle, a third option is trade-in.
How to get a meaningful offer
Please send model, year, mileage, photos and true description of condition including damage. Complete the service, the number of keys and any financing or other restrictions on handling the motorcycle. Distinguish the preliminary photo valuation from the final offer after verification of the actual condition.
At Moto Palace, we select motorcycles individually. Send a non-binding buyout request; we will let you know if we are interested in a particular machine and under what conditions. If you choose to sell yourself, use ours safe handover procedure.
